FARMINGDALE, Maine — Two men were arrested and charged Friday in connection with drug trafficking following a traffic stop in Farmingdale.
At about 8:30 p.m. Friday, a Kennebec County sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop of a 2010 Jeep Grand Wagoneer on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale, a news release from the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office said.
A search of the vehicle following the stop revealed 6.5 pounds of cocaine, 6.2 ounces of fentanyl, 3.3 ounces of suspected fentanyl, and 14 grams of methamphetamine, according to the release. More than $23,000 in cash was also discovered in the vehicle.
As a result, 29-year-old David Maldonado of New York was arrested and charged with two counts of Class A aggravated trafficking in cocaine and violation of conditional release, the sheriff's office said.
Gene Northup, 58, of Maine, was also arrested following the incident. He was charged with Class B unlawful trafficking in methamphetamine and Class D unlawful possession of cocaine.
The two men are currently being held at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility.
No additional information was released.
