MSAD 44 schools canceled Monday due to threat

Superintendent Mark Kenney said the district received a "credible threat" directed at the Telstar complex.

BETHEL, Maine — Maine School Administrative District 44 has canceled classes Monday due to a threat.

MSAD 44 serves the towns of Bethel, Greenwood, Newry, and Woodstock, as well as students from Albany Township, Gilead, and Upton. It includes Crescent Park Elementary School, Woodstock Elementary School, Telstar Middle School, and Telstar High School.

In a message posted to the school district's website, Superintendent Mark Kenney said the district received a "credible threat" directed at the Telstar complex.

Kenney said school officials are working with the Oxford County Sheriff's Office.

The cancelation will count as the school district's first snow day of the school year, according to Kenney.
