Portland police make arrest in Forest Avenue shooting

Dominic Moncada-Sanchez, 19, of Portland was arrested Tuesday night, officials say.

PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police arrested a man for allegedly shooting a 17-year-old on Forest Avenue early Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred just before 2:30 a.m. at 1390 Forest Avenue, where police found a 17-year-old who had been shot, according to a Tuesday release from the Portland Police Department.

Portland police sent out an updated release Wednesday morning stating they had arrested 19-year-old Dominic Moncada-Sanchez of Portland Tuesday night. They charged him with aggravated attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault, and violating conditions of release.

Police said the injured teen was transported to Maine Medical Center with "life-threatening injuries," and was in stable condition as of 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Moncada-Sanchez was taken into custody with assistance from the South Portland Police Department at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in South Portland. He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail, according to the release.

The FBI Safe Streets Task Force, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, and South Portland police assisted with the arrest.
