Suspects charged in alleged Androscoggin County commercial burglary ring

Three people were arrested on multiple charges Thursday relating to a series of commercial burglaries in Androscoggin County.

AUBURN, Maine — Police have arrested three individuals in connection with a series of commercial burglaries in Androscoggin County after a nearly two-month-long investigation. 

The Auburn Police Department, in partnership with the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department, began investigating the series of burglaries in Auburn on March 2 after a church was burglarized overnight, according to a news release from the Auburn Police Department.

Police said multiple other burglaries occurred throughout Auburn and other towns across Androscoggin County. 

On Thursday, three suspects were reportedly arrested and charged in connection with the string of burglaries: Charles York, 46, transient; Billie Jo Garland, 46, of Auburn; and Amanda Garland, 41, of Auburn. 

All three individuals are being charged with four counts of burglary, Class C, four counts of theft by unauthorized taking, Class C, one count of theft by unauthorized taking, Class B, and one count of aggravated criminal mischief, Class C. 

York faces an additional charge of violation of conditions of release. He is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $20,000 cash bail. Both Billie Jo and Amanda Garland are being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $15,000 cash bail. 

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected, police said.
