MILFORD, Maine — State police are investigating two deaths in Milford.
At about 5 p.m. Wednesday, Penobscot County sheriff's deputies conducted a well-being check at a home in Milford, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered two deceased individuals. The deaths were initially considered to be suspicious, Moss said.
The two individuals were taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of their deaths.
"The OCME has determined the manner of death in both cases as suicide," the release said "Given the manner of deaths the identities of the deceased will not be released."
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North investigated the deaths, according to Moss.
"At this time, law enforcement does not believe there to be an ongoing threat to the public," Moss said.
