State police investigating Pittston shooting incident Monday night

A homeowner on Palmer Road called 911 Monday night reporting his door had been kicked in and that he had shot the intruder.

PITTSTON, Maine — State police are investigating a shooting incident that happened Monday night in Pittston.

The Maine State Police Central Field Troop responded to a call about a reported shooting around 8:45 p.m., a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety said.

A homeowner on Palmer Road called 911 reporting his door had been kicked in and that he had shot the intruder.

When troopers arrived, they secured the scene and notified the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit. The unit then responded to the scene and began an investigation, the release stated. 

State police said the male intruder was taken to Maine Medical Center, where he is undergoing medical procedures and is expected to survive.

Troopers added there is no threat to the public.

The investigation remains ongoing.
