SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine — A Swans Island man was arrested by state police Friday morning in Southwest Harbor for unlawful possession of a firearm.
The Maine State Police Northern Field Troop, along with the Maine State Police Tactical Team, arrested 45-year-old Joshua White of Swans Island at about 7:40 a.m. Friday, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release.
Moss said the arrest was a result of an investigation into White, who is a felon and was unlawfully possessing firearms.
"A firearm was located in White’s vehicle at the time of his arrest," the release stated. "A search warrant of White’s residence on Swans Island also yielded additional firearms."
White was arrested without incident and transported to the Hancock County Jail where he was charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Maine Marine Patrol also assisted with this incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
