Suspect on the run after apparent shooting in Penobscot County

SPRINGFIELD, Maine — The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office is trying to locate a suspect in a shooting in Springfield on Wednesday.

Officials responded around 11:35 p.m. to a home on Ghost Road for a report of a man who had been shot, the sheriff's office said in a release Thursday.

Matthew Vandine, 45, of Molunkis is believed to have been involved in the shooting, the release stated.

The sheriff's office said witnesses told them Vandine and Noel Wilson, 32, fled the home in a vehicle. Officials believe Vandine is in possession of a gun, according to the release.

Vandine was wearing black sweatpants, a hooded sweatshirt, and a half-mask at the time of the incident, the release stated.

Officials ask that anyone who may have information call the Penobscot County Regional Communications Center at 207-945-4636.
