ROCKLAND, Maine — Rockland police search for a gun reportedly involved in an altercation early Friday morning.
Police responded to a report of a person being threatened by a man with a firearm, according to a Friday social media post by the Rockland Police Department. The person had confronted a group of three people who were allegedly involved in illegally riding an ATV in the roadway in Rockland's North End around 5:30 a.m.
The group took off before law enforcement arrived, however, the suspect who reportedly threatened the victim with a gun was arrested while attempting to run from police, according to the post.
Police recovered a handgun magazine, later reported to have been stolen from an unlocked vehicle, the post states. No firearm was located.
Officers arrested 18-year-old Timothy Gleason for criminal threatening. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this case, the post states.
Officials are still trying to locate the firearm that was reportedly involved.
