Man accused of stealing vehicle, assaulting an officer arrested in Greenville

Ricki Gould and Ashlynn Libby, a woman who was with him, were arrested at a vacant camp in Greenville, Tuesday night.

GREENVILLE, Maine — A man accused of stealing a vehicle and assaulting an officer in Waterville Saturday morning was arrested in Greenville Tuesday night.

Ricki M. Gould, 28, had been considered armed and dangerous after he allegedly assaulted a Waterville police officer multiple times at the Circle K on Kennedy Memorial Drive around 3 a.m. Saturday. Police had been searching for Gould and Ashlynn Libby, a woman who was with him.

On Tuesday night, Greenville police received information from a relative of Libby's that the couple were hiding out in a vacant camp on Lily Bay Road in Greenville, according to a social media post by Greenville police.

Detectives with the Waterville Police Department were already near St. Albans, where several vehicles were reported stolen early Tuesday morning. Police believed the thefts were connected to Gould.

Other officers were called in, and a sheriff's deputy also responded to assist. A plan was formulated, the camp was surrounded, and after several failed attempts to call the suspects out, officers entered the camp and took Gould and Libby into custody without incident, police said.

In addition to outstanding arrest warrants, the suspects were charged by Greenville police with burglary and possession of scheduled drugs, according to officials.
