TURNER, Maine — The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) and Maine Violent Offender Task Force (MVOTF) arrested a Rhode Island fugitive in Maine Thursday.
Twenty-nine-year-old Tyler Perry was arrested on warrants from the Burrillville Police Department in Rhode Island for two counts of felony assault, reckless driving, possession of narcotics, obstruction, and disorderly conduct, according to a Friday news release from USMS.
“It is alleged that Perry was the operator of a motor vehicle where two Burrillville Police Officers were dragged a short distance following a routine traffic stop by the officers,” the release stated. "The USMS, Rhode Island Fugitive Task Force provided investigative leads to the USMS MVOTF requesting assistance in locating and apprehending Perry in Maine."
Task force members identified Perry as a passenger in a motor vehicle in Turner, Maine, and arrested him without incident with the assistance of the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department, the release said.
Perry has been charged as a Fugitive from Justice and will be arraigned in Maine, pending his extradition back to Rhode Island.
The USMS, Maine Violent Offender Task Force was assisted by the USMS, Rhode Island Fugitive Task Force, and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office. U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of members of the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
