PORTLAND, Maine — A Portland man is facing murder charges after police found a man dead in an apartment on Marshall Street last Sunday.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, Portland police responded to a call at 24 Marshall Street for a report of a deceased individual in an apartment, according to a Wednesday release from the Portland Police Department.
Officers said they found the body of Matthew Merrick, 43, of Portland. An autopsy was done on Dec. 1 at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where the death was ruled a homicide, according to the release.
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Portland police arrested suspect Domingus Nobrega, 48, of Portland, at the Scarborough Walmart and charged him with murder, the release stated.
Nobrega was transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where he is being held without bail.
Police said no further details would be released at this time.
