Burglary suspect arrested on Congress Street, faces multiple charges

When officers got to the scene, someone told them the building had been burglarized two nights in a row, according to Portland police.

PORTLAND, Maine — A man has been arrested and charged after a burglary at a building on Congress Street in Portland.

Kenneth Donis, 52, was taken into custody Sunday and charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, and criminal mischief, Portland police spokesperson Brad Nadeau said in a release Monday. Donis was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.

Portland police were called to 465 Congress St. shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday. When they got to the scene, someone told them the building had been burglarized two nights in a row, Nadeau said. Officers then entered the building and arrested Donis.

Police ask that anyone who may have information that could assist in the case call 207-874-8575. People can also text keyword PPDME and a message to 847411.
