Portland police arrest suspect in bank robbery

The suspect was also charged with criminal mischief for allegedly throwing an object through the window of a home less than an hour before the robbery.

PORTLAND, Maine — On Wednesday morning, Portland police arrested a man suspected of robbing Skowhegan Savings Bank on Marginal Way.

Officers responded to the call at 9:22 a.m. and were told the suspect fled down Diamond Street and was later spotted entering the Bayside Anchor Apartment Complex, according to a press release.

Shortly after, police located and arrested 29-year-old Khalid Gurhan, who was charged with robbery and violating conditions of release. Gurhan was also charged with criminal mischief for allegedly throwing an object through the window of a home less than an hour before the robbery, according to the release.

An undisclosed amount of money was stolen and recovered, police said.
