Nearby apartment building, vehicle struck in Lewiston shooting incident; police search for suspect

Lewiston police said several bullets struck a parked vehicle and a nearby apartment building during the incident Saturday night.

LEWISTON, Maine — Police are searching for the suspect in a shooting incident at a Lewiston apartment building parking lot Saturday night where a parked vehicle and nearby apartment building were struck. 

The Lewiston Police Department said on social media officers responded to the Maple Knoll Apartments parking lot located on Blake Street around 8:20 p.m. for a report of shots fired. 

Officers found multiple shell casings in the parking lot and a discarded firearm, police said. Bullets reportedly struck a parked vehicle and a nearby apartment building during the incident.

Police said "there is no indication that anyone was struck by the gunfire."

Witnesses told police a male got out of a vehicle on Blake Street and shot at an occupied vehicle in the apartment building parking lot. Both then left the scene. 

Police are now trying to identify the suspect and possible victims connected with the shooting incident. Those with information are asked to call Detective Crystal Lachance at 207-513-3001.
