Police search for suspect in Portland gas station robbery

A man with a white mask and a baseball bat entered the Riverton Gas Station on Forest Avenue Saturday afternoon and demanded money, police say.

PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police are trying to identify a suspect in a gas station robbery Saturday afternoon.

It happened just after 2 p.m. at the Riverton Gas Station on 1585 Forest Avenue, according to a press release from the Portland Police Department.

The release stated that an unknown man entered the gas station wearing a white mask, holding a baseball bat, and demanded money from the clerk.

The suspect is described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall, with yellow teeth and a brown goatee.

Police said the suspect left the store heading towards the Riverton School with "an unknown amount of cash."

Officials said attempts to track the suspect using a K9 were unsuccessful.
