CANTON, Maine — Two men were taken to Central Maine Medical Center after being shot in Canton on Sunday, according to Oxford County Sheriff Chris Wainwright.
Wainwright said the call came in around 7:30 p.m. Sunday from an address on Canton Point Road.
When deputies arrived, they found a 45-year-old man with two gunshot wounds to his hip. The man was taken to Central Maine Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to an updated release Monday from the sheriff's office.
Shortly after, deputies received a report of another man arriving at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg, also not considered life-threatening, according to the release.
"The injuries to the two men are believed to be related to the same incident," the release stated.
The sheriff's office said the suspects fled the scene and described them as three men in a silver sedan. A person of interest has been identified, and officials do not believe there is a threat to the public.
"This appears, at this time, to be an isolated incident," the sheriff's office said.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is assisting with the investigation.
