Police respond to multiple calls about shootings reported in Sanford

Several calls reported hearing gunshots at about 11 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Bodwell Street, according to police.

SANFORD, Maine — Police are investigating a shooting incident that happened late Tuesday night in Sanford.

Sanford police said they received several calls about hearing gunshots at about 11 p.m. in the area of Bodwell Street, the department said in a news release.

Police said they responded immediately to investigate the area, where they discovered shell casings. No victims or injuries were reported.

The police department's criminal investigation team also responded to continue processing the scene. Sanford police said the team is following up on several leads as to possible suspects.

Police ask anyone who lives on Bodwell, School, or Church Streets to check surveillance footage from around the time of the incident and report any findings to them at 207-324-3644.

The incident appears to be isolated, according to police.
