Police investigating reported gunshots in Auburn

Shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, Auburn police responded to the area of Sixth Street between Broad and Pulsifer Streets for a report of gunshots.

AUBURN, Maine — Police are investigating after gunshots were reported and spent shell casings were discovered in Auburn on Monday night.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, Auburn police responded to the area of Sixth Street between Broad and Pulsifer Streets for a report of gunshots, the Auburn Police Department said in a Facebook post Tuesday morning.

"Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored sedan driving in the area and an occupant of the vehicle firing several rounds in the air," the post said.

No injuries were reported, and no reports were made of property being struck by gunfire, according to police.

The vehicle was reportedly last seen driving south on Broad Street.

"Officers canvased the area and located several spent shell casings," police stated.
