Biddeford police said the incident happened around 3 p.m. on Sunday.

BIDDEFORD, Maine — Police have arrested an Old Orchard Beach man accused of conducting an armed robbery Sunday afternoon at a cheese shop in downtown Biddeford.

Biddeford police received a call shortly before 3 p.m. that a firearm was displayed during an attempted robbery at Nibblesford Cheese Shop located on Washington Street, a spokesperson with Biddeford police said Monday in a news release.

An investigation led police to Old Orchard Beach, where Biddeford police were assisted by police there in the arrest of 51-year-old Russell Pease, the release stated.

Pease has been charged with robbery, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and possession of a scheduled drug.

He was brought to York County Jail, and his bail has been set at $25,000.
