Portland police investigate reports of shooting heard on Grant Street

Police say shots were reportedly fired just before midnight Tuesday. Bullet holes were found in the immediate area, but no injuries were reported.

PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police are investigating reports of gunshots fired late Tuesday night in the area of Grant Street. Several bullet holes were found in the area, hitting a glass front door and a parked car, according to police.

Officers responded just before midnight Tuesday to a report of shots fired on Grant Street, according to a news release from the Portland Police Department.

No one was injured as a result of the shooting, the release stated.

Police are asking residents in the area to check if their cars or homes were struck by gunfire and to check any personal security camera footage for evidence of the shooting that could assist in the case.

“Six children were present in the home during this incident,” Chief Mark Dubois said in a statement. “We are fortunate no one was injured, much less killed in this senseless attack.”
