Police identify victim in Biddeford homicide investigation

Police were called to a reported shooting at an apartment on State Street Friday afternoon.

BIDDEFORD, Maine — Officials have now ruled the death investigation that began Friday as a homicide, and the victim has been identified.

Biddeford police were called to an apartment located on State Street at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Friday for a reported shooting, according to a news release from Maine Department of Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss. 

Upon their arrival, officers removed a male from the apartment who died from his injuries, Moss said. The individual was reportedly brought to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner and was identified on Saturday as 27-year-old Ahmed Sharif of Lewiston. His death was ruled a homicide. 

The incident is still being investigated by Maine State Police and the Biddeford Police Department.
