BRUNSWICK, Maine — A Massachusetts man faces several charges after a police chase on Route 1 in the Brunswick area, Tuesday morning.

Brunswick police responded to the area of Cushing Street around 11:45 a.m. after police made contact with an individual who hung up when calling 911, according to a news release from the Brunswick Police Department

After making contact with the caller, police were told a truck had quickly left the area, and the driver was reportedly intoxicated and had made suicidal statements.

The truck traveled on Route 1 toward Bath at a high rate of speed, later turning around and heading back toward Brunswick, police said. Law enforcement with the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office and the Bath Police Department reportedly attempted to deploy spike mats to stop the truck.

Brunswick officers were able to disable the truck with spike mats after the vehicle turned around, police said.

Tyler Crossen, 22, of Harwich, Massachusetts was reportedly taken into custody after a short struggle and now faces several charges.

Crossen is being charged with eluding an officer, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, reckless conduct, aggravated criminal mischief, passing a roadblock, criminal speeding, and operating under the influence.
