Police arrest man after South Portland terrorizing threat on Halloween

Maine State Police arrested a man after he allegedly threatened to shoot patrons at Buffalo Wild Wings with an AR-15.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — South Portland police responded to a call Halloween night at Buffalo Wild Wings near the Maine Mall after a man allegedly threatened to retrieve an AR-15 rifle and shoot customers.

Johann Schwiesow, 22, of Porter, was later identified and taken into custody by police after he fled the scene, according to a news release from the South Portland Police Department.

When police first arrived at the restaurant just after 11 p.m., they instructed patrons to secure themselves inside the building while officers searched the surrounding area, including all cars in the parking lot. Police said they did not immediately locate Schwiesow and believed he had already left the scene.

Maine State Police later found Schwiesow at his home and placed him under arrest without incident. He was then transported to Cumberland County Jail and charged with one count of terrorizing, a class C felony, according to the release.

"South Portland Officers and Maine State Police take this type of behavior very seriously and worked well together to take Mr. Schwiesow into custody. We thank the staff and patrons of Buffalo Wild Wings for immediately calling police," South Portland Police Chief Daniel Ahern, said in the release.
