GRAY, Maine — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office arrested a man from Gray on Wednesday for alleged drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms.
Peter Petersen, 50, was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled W drugs (fentanyl) and unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, according to a news release from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
"For the past month, agents from the MDEA Cumberland District Task Force investigated the illegal distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine by Peter Petersen, from his home in Gray. During the investigation, agents conducted several undercover purchases of fentanyl from Petersen," the release stated.
Agents and deputies executed a search warrant around 2 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen's home at 80 Whitney Road in Gray. The suspect was located inside his home, arrested without incident, and charged with an outstanding arrest warrant and three counts of aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (fentanyl), according to the release.
Officials said they seized 10 grams each of fentanyl, amphetamine, methamphetamine, and three loaded guns, as well as other items indicative of drug trafficking.
Petersen was taken to Cumberland County Jail where the additional charge of being a prohibited person (felon) in possession of firearms was added. His cash bail was set at $30,000, according to the release.
