SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Scarborough police responded to multiple reports of a suspicious male walking around properties on Broadturn Road and Woodfield Drive late Sunday evening.
The suspect was accused of burglarizing unlocked motor vehicles in the area. Police flooded the area Nov. 5 but were unable to locate the suspect, according to a news release.
Late Monday morning, officers located suspect Matthew Tozier, 44, who was found walking on Broadturn Road.
Tozier was taken into custody and charged with two counts of misdemeanor burglary to a motor vehicle, one count of felonious theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, and one count of felonious unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, according to the release.
Tozier was booked at the Cumberland County Jail.
Police are reminding citizens to lock their cars and homes to prevent falling victim to such crimes.
Authorities are also asking residents of Broadturn Road, Woodfield Road, and Longmeadow Road who have surveillance footage of a suspicious male on their property during the early hours of Nov. 6, to contact Officer Nicholas Kauffman at nkauffman@scarboroughmaine.org or at 207-730-4337.
