POLAND, Maine — Police arrested one suspect and are still trying to track down another after a home invasion in Poland on Monday.
Officials arrested Justin Martin and took him to the Androscoggin County Jail, where he was booked on the following charges, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office:
- Burglary (class A)
- Robbery (class A)
- Theft by receiving stolen property (class B)
- Possession of firearm by prohibited person (class C)
- Criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon (class C)
- Criminal mischief (class D)
Martin, 31, is originally from Florida but is currently listed as a transient, the sheriff's office said Monday in a press release.
Around 9:30 p.m., a man on Evergreen Drive reported that he was awoken by a loud bang and saw someone dressed in all black, including a ski mask, on the front steps of his home, according to the release. A second person dressed the same way, later identified as Martin, was in a bedroom of the home trying to break into a safe, the release stated.
The suspect on the front steps ran off down the street and has not been located. Police ask that anyone who may have information on their identity contact Detective Sergeant Maurice Drouin at 207-753-2500 ext. 1717 or mdrouin@androscoggincountymaine.gov.
Martin allegedly pointed a gun at the homeowner when the homeowner confronted him, the sheriff's office said. The homeowner then escaped to a neighbor's house to call for help, according to the release.
Sheriff's office officials and K9s from Androscoggin and Cumberland counties responded to the scene and located Martin, who is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $10,000 bail, which includes several conditions, the release stated.
Officials recovered a handgun, which had previously been reported stolen, wrapped in a black ski mask in the same area where Martin was apprehended, the sheriff's office said.
