Hit-and-run injures pedestrian, dog in Saco

"The individual who was struck was taken to Maine Medical Center for a leg injury, and their dog was taken to an emergency veterinarian for treatment," police said.

SACO, Maine — One person and their dog were injured in a hit-and-run crash in Saco on Monday evening.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Monday, Saco police received a report about a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian on Lincoln Street just west of Forest Street, the Saco Police Department said in a news release Tuesday.

When police arrived at the scene, they learned an individual was crossing the street while walking their dog when a vehicle struck them and fled the scene toward Boom Road, according to the release.

Police describe the vehicle as small and light-colored and it is believed to have damage on the driver's side.

"The individual who was struck was taken to Maine Medical Center for a leg injury, and their dog was taken to an emergency veterinarian for treatment," the release stated.

Police are seeking help from the public in identifying the vehicle involved. Officials ask anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the Saco Police Department at 207-284-4535.

This investigation remains active and ongoing.
