Maine State Police investigating stabbing in Palmyra

There is no known danger to the public at this time, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.

PALMYRA, Maine — Maine State Police and the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a stabbing that occurred Friday morning in Palmyra.

The incident happened shortly before 3 a.m. at a residence at 482 Madawaska Rd., Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Friday in a news release.

An adult male suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield and later transported to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he is listed in critical condition, Moss said.

Officials are not releasing the identity of the injured male at this time. 

"The road was closed for much of the day while Detectives conducted interviews and Evidence Response Technicians processed the scene," the release stated.

Madawaska Road reopened around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

"There is no known danger to the public. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. Additional information will be released when it becomes available," according to Moss.
