Name of officer who stopped New Hampshire hospital shooter is released

The circumstances of the shooting incident remain under investigation, including the killing of a New Hampshire security officer, by shooter John Madore.

CONCORD, N.H. — Almost two weeks after a shooting incident at a Concord, New Hampshire hospital, Attorney General John M. Formella announced in a Thursday press release the identity of the officer involved.

Thirty-three-year-old John Madore shot and killed a hospital security guard on Nov. 17 and was then shot and killed by New Hampshire State Trooper, Nathan Sleight. Sleight has been working in law enforcement for 11 years, according to the release.

The circumstances of the shooting incident remain under investigation, including the shooting and killing of a New Hampshire security officer by Madore, the release states.

“The evidence gathered and reviewed to date indicates that Trooper Sleight’s actions were legally justified under New Hampshire RSA 627:5, and very likely prevented further injuries or loss of life,” the release states.

The attorney general’s office said a final report will be released once the investigation is complete and they do not expect any further updates until then.
