MOUNT DESERT, Maine — A Mount Desert Island man is facing arson charges following two house fires Monday.
Fire crews responded to two "incendiary fires" at two different Mount Desert homes on Stanley Mountain Road, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a release.
The state fire marshal's office also responded to both scenes for investigation.
As a result, 58-year-old Glenn Stanley of Mount Desert Island was charged with two counts of arson in connection with both house fires, Moss said.
No one was home at either house during the two fires.
Moss said Stanley was taken to the Hancock County Jail.
The state fire marshal's office was assisted by Bar Harbor and Mount Desert police departments, Acadia National Park rangers, and the Mount Desert Fire Department.
Fire departments from Southwest Harbor, Tremont, Trenton, and Ellsworth also assisted.
No further information was released.
