SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A man was arrested at Walmart in Scarborough Saturday afternoon, police say.
Police were notified of a man in possession of a stolen firearm out of a neighboring jurisdiction who was at the Walmart in Scarborough around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, the Scarborough Police Department said in a news release.
Officers responded to the store and located the man, identified as 27-year-old Shawn Small, according to the release.
At the store, Small resisted officers as they tried to detain him. He was eventually handcuffed and taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
Police said the stolen firearm was located in a bag Small had in his possession,
"Small will be charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, refusing to submit to arrest and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs," the release stated.
Police said Small will also be placed on a probation hold.
