LEWISTON, Maine — A man from Lewiston is awaiting extradition to New Hampshire after a sexual assault investigation spanning several weeks led to his arrest.
The Lewiston Police Department said Friday in a Facebook post the department had been helping the Nashua, New Hampshire Police Department during the last several weeks with a sexual assault investigation that happened in New Hampshire.
Several Lewiston law enforcement units, including the crime reduction unit, community resource team, and Central Maine Violent Crime Task Force, executed a search warrant Thursday at a College Street home that resulted in the arrest of 44-year-old Michael Borges, who was inside the residence at that time, according to police.
Borges is accused of aggravated felonious sexual assault. Police said he was brought to the Androscoggin County Jail where he would remain until his extradition to New Hampshire.
