York police searching for suspect in multiple vehicle thefts

YORK, Maine — York police are searching for a man they believe may have stolen multiple vehicles in southern Maine.

Officials are trying to locate Anthony Bizzocchi, 44, formerly of Eliot, Maine, York police said in a release Tuesday.

Police responded to 1400 Route 1 in York on Tuesday, where a woman told them her silver 2020 Honda HRV with Maine license plate 3614YH had been stolen from her home, according to the release.

A short time later, officers found a vehicle parked in the same area that had previously been reported stolen to the Wells Police Department, the release stated.

While investigating, officers were notified by police in North Hampton, New Hampshire, that they had recovered a 2002 Toyota Rav4 that had been stolen from an auto repair shop in York, police said. When officers got to the repair shop, they found a stolen 2014 Chrysler 200, which had been reported stolen to Kittery police, according to the release.

Through investigation and coordination by the York, Kittery, and Wells police departments, officials identified Bizzocchi as a suspect in the vehicle thefts.

Police ask that anyone who may have information to contact their local police department.
