POLAND, Maine — Maine State Police is investigating a fatal shooting that happened Friday in Poland.
The MSP Major Crimes Unit South is assisting the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office with the investigation, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Saturday in a news release.
Moss said the incident happened shortly before 8 p.m. Friday at a residence on White Oak Hill Road.
The body of the individual who died was taken to the chief medical examiner's office in Augusta, where an autopsy will determine the cause and manner of death, according to the release.
"The investigation is ongoing and there is no danger to the public," Moss said.
No additional details surrounding the incident were released, including details about the person who died.
