Three arrested in ice cream ATM robbery

An ATM was stolen from Tubby's Ice Cream shop early Thursday morning.

WAYNE, Maine — Maine State Police responded to reports of a stolen ATM from the inside of Tubby's Ice Cream shop on Main Street in Wayne early Thursday morning.

Following an investigation, troopers identified and located the suspects at a house in Livermore Falls, Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a Friday news release.

Troopers found the suspects with "a significant amount of money from inside the ATM," according to the release. The machine was later located in a vacant lot away from the house.

Police arrested 47-year-old Joshua Souther and 44-year-old Jason Reckards, both from Livermore Falls, and charged them with theft. Police also arrested 37-year-old Brittany Boivin of Jay for obstructing government administration and violation of conditional release, according to Moss.

All three were taken to the Androscoggin County Jail.

The Androscoggin Sheriff's Office and Livermore Falls Police Department assisted in the investigation.
