Maid who allegedly stole $15,000 diamond ring arrested in Hermon

The Bangor Police Dept. has arrested the woman behind Cynthia’s Cleaning Service for theft.

BANGOR, Maine — On Thursday the Bangor Police Department Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant at the Hermon residence of Cynthia Daigle. Daigle was arrested for theft, a class C felony, and was transported to the Penobscot County Jail.

Daigle had been advertising her cleaning services on Facebook as Cynthia’s Cleaning Service. A Bangor resident hired Daigle and after the first appointment discovered jewelry missing from her home, including a 3-carat diamond ring valued at over $15,000 according to police.

Police recovered the missing ring during the search warrant at Daigle's residence.

In a Facebook post, Bangor police call it a "St. Valentine's Day miracle," and commend Detective Shannon Farrar for her efforts in finding the ring. "She does not appreciate her new nickname of 'Detective Smeagol,'" the post jokes.

"We would like to thank all our Detectives for their hard work in making the victim's Valentine's Day a little brighter," Police write in the post.

Police are encouraging other individuals who have hired Daigle and have discovered missing items to contact their local police department.

Police say the investigation is on-going.
