LEWISTON, Maine — Police in Lewiston are investigating after multiple gunshots were fired into an apartment early Sunday morning.
Just before 5 a.m., Lewiston police responded to a report of multiple shots fired outside a multi-unit apartment building on Pine Street, according to a news release from the Lewiston Police Department.
Upon arrival, police said they discovered many shots were fired into a single apartment.
Shell casings were reportedly found outside the building and police believe the suspect may have fled in a vehicle after the shooting, according to the release.
"This does not appear to be a random incident as the shooting was directed toward a specific apartment," police said.
Those with information regarding the incident are asked to contact the Lewiston Police Department at 207-513-3001. The investigation is ongoing.
