NH woman arrested in Kittery, suspected of selling narcotics

KITTERY, Maine — A New Hampshire woman was arrested in Kittery on Tuesday on a warrant for two charges of the sale of a controlled drug.

The charges against 35-year-old Heather McGrath of Portsmouth, stemmed from a lengthy investigation conducted by the Portsmouth Police Department, Somersworth Police Department, and other federal law enforcement agencies, according to a Thursday press release from the Kittery Police Department.

Following her arrest, multiple search warrants were served on locations, including her personal property. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, and the Dover New Hampshire Police Department found large quantities of narcotics in a storage unit belonging to McGrath, including 650 grams of suspected fentanyl, according to the release.

"A search warrant was conducted on property belonging to McGrath. During this search, the Kittery Police Department, Portsmouth Police Department, York Police Department, and assisting federal agency located another large quantity of suspected narcotics. Approximately 310 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 95 grams of suspected powdered cocaine, approximately 4 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and approximately 40 grams of suspected methamphetamine were found on her property," the release stated.

McGrath was taken to the York County Jail and is pending extradition to New Hampshire. She faces two charges for the sale of a controlled drug, a class B felony. McGrath was further charged with being a fugitive from justice in Maine, and more charges are expected, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
