Investigation underway into armed home invasion in South Portland

Police said two suspects fled the scene on Sawyer Street and are currently at large, but there is no danger to the public.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — An investigation is underway into an armed home invasion in South Portland on Wednesday night.

South Portland police received a report about shots fired at on Sawyer Street shortly after 8:30 p.m., the police department said in a news release.

"Two suspects fled the scene and are currently at large," the release stated.

No injuries were reported, and police believe there is no danger to the public, according to the release.

Police ask anyone who may have information about this incident to contact the South Portland Police Department at 207-874-8575, or to dial 911 for an emergency.

No additional details were released.

South Portland police released an update Thursday with two images of the alleged suspects. 

Police ask that anyone in the area of High Street and School Street with home security systems or motion detectors to contact them by contacting Detective John Stearns at 207-874-8575 ext. 7212, Detective Chris Todd at 207-874-8575 ext. 7448, or leave an anonymous tip at 207-374-4100.
