Police still seeking answers in 1978 Bowdoinham homicide

Emily Chase was last seen getting her mail Feb. 19, 1978, according to Maine State Police.

BOWDOINHAM, Maine — Maine State Police posted to social media Monday to draw attention to an unsolved homicide that happened in Bowdoinham in 1978.

Emily Chase was last seen getting her mail Feb. 19, 1978, police said. She was found dead in her home, and her death was ruled a homicide, according to police. 

Chase was 90 years old and living alone at the time of her death. She raised her family in Bowdoinham and was well-known in town, police said.

Officials ask that anyone who may have information call the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit at 207-624-7143 or 1-800-452-4664.

People can also report information through the Maine Department of Public Safety's website.
