Maine State Police arrest man accused of assaulting child in New Hampshire

After allegedly fleeing New Hampshire, investigators located a vehicle known to be associated with the 25-year-old Nashua man at a home in Cornish.

CORNISH, Maine — A man who police say fled New Hampshire after an alleged assault of a child was arrested Friday by Maine State Police.

Jose Gurley, 25, of Nashua has been charged with first-degree assault, a Class A felony, and is being held at York County Jail after an investigation by Nashua police in New Hampshire discovered a vehicle he was associated with was at a home in Cornish.

The investigation began Jan. 19, when police in New Hampshire responded to a Nashua residence over a medical emergency of a 4-year-old child with apparent facial and head injuries, Nashua police said Sunday in a news release.

Nashua police notified Maine law enforcement about a vehicle Gurley was believed to be associated with at a Cornish home.

Maine State Police obtained a search warrant for the home where the vehicle was found, and Gurley was taken into custody without incident on Jan. 26, Nashua police said.

Gurley is being held at York County Jail pending extradition to New Hampshire.

Nashua police ask that anyone with information about the incident contact them on their crime line at 603-589-1665.
