BANGOR, Maine — Maine State Police arrested a man from Connecticut following a traffic stop Friday afternoon.

At around 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 25, Sgt. Dube of the Northern Field Troop pulled over Cyrus Griffin, 40, of New Haven, Connecticut on Interstate 95 in Bangor, for a speed violation, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.

Sgt. Dube discovered Griffin was operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license and was on parole in the state of Connecticut for a homicide case. Moss said after Dube learned Griffin's parole statutes, Tr. Doyle responded to the scene to assist.

Griffin was not supposed to be outside the state of Connecticut per the conditions of his parole. Law enforcement searched the vehicle and found a loaded pistol under the driver's seat. Because of his prior conviction and subsequent parole, Griffin was prohibited from possessing a firearm, according to the release.

After searching the vehicle and Griffin's person, officers found 375 grams of cocaine, 69 grams of cocaine base, and 142 grams of fentanyl xylazine. Moss said police also seized about $2,100 in suspected drug proceeds.

"Numerous items related to the manufacture and sale of the illicit drugs were also located in the vehicle," the release stated.

Griffin was taken to Penobscot County Jail where he is being held on a $150,000 bond.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency assisted the Maine State Police after the seizure.
