CHARLESTON, Maine — The Maine State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for damaging several gravestones in a Charleston cemetery.
According to a statement released Monday, seven gravestones were vandalized within the past three weeks.
Photos shared by law enforcement show significant damage to the headstones, which appear to have been toppled.
Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident or those involved to come forward.
"If you have any details that could aid in identifying the individuals responsible, please contact our Bangor Barracks at 207-973-3700," the statement read.
The investigation is ongoing, and police hope that public tips will resolve the case.
