Caretaker charged in homicide investigation at Denmark home

The 53-year-old caretaker faces two counts of murder after a welfare check was conducted Saturday for two individuals at a Denmark residence.

DENMARK, Maine — The caretaker of two individuals faces murder charges in a homicide investigation after both people were found dead Saturday afternoon at a home in Denmark.

Oxford County Sheriff's Office deputies conducted a welfare check for two individuals at a home in Denmark located on Fuller Lane at approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday, according to a news release from Maine Department of Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss.

Both individuals were reportedly found dead inside the home and were brought to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner for autopsies performed on Sunday. Their deaths were ruled a homicide. Moss said their identities and causes of death are not being released at this time.

The caretaker of both individuals, 53-year-old Tzara Jones of Denmark, was brought from the scene to a hospital for evaluation, Moss said. Jones now faces two counts of murder. She was brought to the Oxford County Jail and is set to be arraigned on Monday in Oxford District Court, Moss said.
