BUCKSPORT, Maine — A woman from Bucksport is facing more than a half-dozen charges relating to allegations of animal cruelty.
According to an arrest warrant issued in Hancock County, 44-year-old Ellisha Krutuleski is facing six counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of animal cruelty.
Court documents show that Krutuleski's address is the same location as Coastal Dreams Rescue and Sanctuary in Bucksport.
According to Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF) Communication Director Jim Britt, on July 30, a DACF Animal Welfare Program district humane agent relocated 27 dogs from the rescue.
"All the dogs are doing well. The dogs have cleared the legal holding period or will soon clear it and may be available for adoption," Britt wrote in a statement to NEWS CENTER Maine.
Krutuleski's arrest warrant was issued on Aug. 7, but her initial court appearance has not been scheduled, according to Hancock County court officials.
A NEWS CENTER Maine crew visited Coastal Dreams Rescue and Sanctuary on Friday in an attempt to speak with Krutuleski, but could not access the property.
There are also no social media pages or a website for the rescue.
A neighbor on Millvale Road, where Coastal Dream is located, said she was heartbroken to learn what happened.
"It's bad, it's a heartsore, just to know that spirit's going to be here for forever," Ruth Babcock said. "My husband and I bred pit bulls for 30 years, and to know that they did this to those dogs, I mean it's horrifying. My heart is literally broken over this."
According to a Hancock County court clerk, the arrest warrant for Krutuleski has not been executed, and to the court's knowledge, she has not been arrested as of Friday afternoon.
