Buckfield man charged with arson after allegedly setting his home on fire

The state fire marshal's office was called to investigate and determined the fire was intentionally set, the Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson said.

BUCKFIELD, Maine — A Buckfield man has been charged with arson Sunday after allegedly intentionally setting his home on fire.

Shortly before 2:45 p.m. Sunday, the Buckfield fire and rescue departments responded to a report of a fire at 69 Depot Street, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Monday in a news release.

Moss said the state fire marshal's office was called to investigate and determined the fire was intentionally set.

The homeowner, identified as 46-year-old Clay Jacobs, was arrested and charged with arson, according to the release. He was taken to the Oxford County Jail.

Fire departments from Turner, Hebron, Paris, and Sumner assisted at the scene.

No additional details were released.
