Man charged after stabbing in Buckfield

A man was taken by emergency officials to Central Maine Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening, the sheriff's office said.

BUCKFIELD, Maine — A man from Waterville was arrested and taken to the Oxford County Jail on Monday after a stabbing in Buckfield.

Abdul-Rashid Bilal, 27, has been charged with elevated aggravated assault, a class A felony, the Oxford County Sheriff's Office said in a release Tuesday. His cash bail has been set at $50,000, the release stated.

Michael Johnson Wynter, 37, of Buckfield, was taken by emergency officials to Central Maine Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies responded to a home on Sodom Road around 9:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a stabbing. When they got to the scene, Johnson-Wynter was injured and the suspect was gone, according to the release.

About 30 minutes later, officials located Bilal about a half-mile away and arrested him, the sheriff's office said.

The case remains under investigation.
