WISCASSET, Maine — Police searched a home in Wiscasset a man was found in the yard early Wednesday morning with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Officers responded to the residence around 2:15 a.m. to reports of suspicious activity and "a male subject yelling for help," Wiscasset Police Department officials said in a news release.
A man, identified as 60-year-old Darren Mitchell of Brunswick, was found injured with an apparent gunshot wound in the yard.
Mitchell was taken to Memorial Hospital by Wiscasset EMS, then transported to Maine Medical Center to be treated for his injury, which was not considered life-threatening, the release stated.
Police investigating the case said it appeared several people had fled the area before law enforcement arrived, including two people of interest, according to the release.
Another suspect, 33-year-old Timothy Frasier of Wiscasset, was detained at the scene and was later arrested on an unrelated warrant out of Cumberland County.
Police executed a search warrant at the residence, which led to additional charges for Fraiser, including two counts of violation of condition of release, two counts of unlawful possession of drugs, and unlawful trafficking.
Wiscasset police said Fraiser was being held at Cumberland County Jail on a probation hold.
Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office assisted with the incident.
This investigation is still ongoing and additional suspects and charges are pending.
