BRUNSWICK, Maine — Brunswick police arrested a man Sunday evening for suspected burglary, resulting in multiple charges.
On May 5, officers received reports of a possible robbery on Gurnet Road around 5:50 p.m. Police said the suspect fled the scene in a pickup truck, driving toward Harpswell.
Officers later identified the man as Christopher Tucker, 33, of Topsham from a partial vehicle registration provided by a witness, according to a Wednesday news release from Brunswick police.
Upon further investigation, officers said they learned numerous firearms and ammunition had been stolen during the burglary.
Tucker and his vehicle were located shortly after on Cundy's Point Road by another Brunswick officer in the surrounding area. Upon seeing police, Tucker took off into the woods, and deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office responded to assist, the release stated.
"Brunswick PD K9 Brock and Cumberland County K9 Teemo were utilized to track Tucker. During the track, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office received an alarm activation at a residence in the immediate area. Officers and Deputies responded to the residence and observed Tucker fleeing after smashing a window and attempting to enter the residence," the release stated.
Tucker was arrested shortly after, evaluated at Mid Coast Hospital, and then taken to Cumberland County Jail.
Police said after searching Tucker's truck they recovered numerous firearms, ammunition, drugs, and "multiple other suspected stolen items."
At the time of the incident, Tucker had six different sets of bail conditions connected to prior arrests.
Tucker was charged with burglary (class B), theft of a firearm (class B), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (class C), refusing to submit to arrest (class D), possession of methamphetamine (class C), possession of schedule W drugs (class D), possession of schedule D drugs (class E), violating conditions of release (class E), and multiple traffic-related citations.
Police said they anticipate additional charges.
The Brunswick Police Department said it was assisted by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and citizens of Brunswick and Cundy’s Harbor.
